About weight loss and weight gain

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

fitness-weight-lossIn one study, rats were passed through two cycles of weight loss and weight gain. After the rats had regained the weight they lost through the first scheme, it took 2.2 times longer to lose weight during the second plan. They also took 33% less time to regain the lost weight after the second plan. Specifically, these rats lost their excess weight in 21 days after the first cycle (yo-yo) and resumed in 45 days. It took them 46 days to lose excess weight in the second regime, and only 14 days to resume.

In other studies of wrestlers, the researchers found that the wrestlers who lost and regained weight frequently to “make weight” (reach the weight required to enter a desired weight class) had metabolic rates significantly lower than those whose weight varied little.

The body would respond to repeated attempts to lose weight by decreasing their metabolic rate to automatically defend itself against what it perceives as a famine. This actually happens in the case of real famine, which decreases the body’s metabolic rate and calorie expenditure and to survive longer.

This does not mean you can not reduce your food intake if you want to lose weight. Rather, it means that you should avoid the hazards too restrictive regimes (active women should eat at least eg 1200 calories per day) and the yo-yo so you do not reduce your metabolic rate and reduce void your efforts to lose weight. You do not have enough to eat to lose weight and suffer the risks accordingly.

Instead of suffering the dangers of eating too little to lose weight, you can choose plans that impose only mild restrictions of caloric intake. We are talking about low-calorie diets but not those who are extreme (too low calorie).

Moderate restrictions of caloric intake should not cause chronic fatigue (due to the depletion of muscle glycogen), provided you eat enough carbohydrate. A slight restriction of calorie intake should not decrease your metabolic rate. You should continue to exercise regularly (when purchased with a mildly reduced calorie diet). A routine exercise increases the metabolic rate and helps you lose pounds of fat, not muscle.

What can you do if your metabolism is low because of incessant schemes? Gradually add small quantities of food can increase your metabolism as you continue to exercise. Try adding 100 calories to your daily per month until you eat between 1200 and 1500 calories. Eat those extra calories during breakfast and lunch preference. When you eat earlier in the day, those calories will be more likely to be used as energy rather than being stored as fat.

Being thin is not synonymous with health

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Weight lossIn today’s society the cult of the body and image is something we have in mind daily, and we are always trying to improve our image and struggling to maintain perfect measurements. This has led to associate thinness with health, something that is not entirely true, because being thin does not mean being healthy. Viton Thus we refute this myth that many people believe.

Thinness can be achieved in various ways, one of the most common is by its very nature and constitution of the individual, another for not eating right and another to follow a healthy balanced diet and sports. These three options are the most common, but all are not healthy. Being thin naturally implies having a faster metabolism than others, which makes the food we eat are treated faster and not be combined in the body as fat.

People who have a fast metabolism and a weight grateful nature rarely care about their food. It is true that stay on your weight, which means they are not entirely healthy, as they can eat many foods loaded with cholesterol that affect the circulatory system. On the other hand we have people who kill themselves to starve to be thin. These people fail to consume the necessary quantities of food to be healthy. To stop using properly fed longer receive the nutrients the body needs and can develop a number of shortcomings that affect the functioning of many organs, and eventually may eventually take its toll.

Therefore the best thing to be thin in a healthy way is to do so by following a balanced diet which not miss any food or nutrient, since all are necessary for the body and the proper functioning of each one of the component parts. Along with this sport is an ideal partner because its practice will help us keep all the organs of the body in shape, because it speeds up the heart rate and makes that we strengthen the circulatory system and also maintain the respiratory trained.

It is important to take this into account and be able to discern one type of diet or another, because it is important to have good presence, but it is easier to maintain a healthy body inside. It is necessary to change the chip and we have not always very clear that being thin at any price is synonymous with health.

Achieving ideal weight after the summer

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

burn fatWith the end of summer and the end of the holidays most of us have won a few extra kilos and we want to regain weight. It is therefore important that we start some action on it to get the best results with minimal effort and without hunger.

First of all we should pay particular attention to food. The summer weight gain was due mainly to the great feasts we’ve done away from home and little physical activity. An explosive cocktail when we consider that this kind of diet has great energy intake at a time when you just burn anything. Next to this the lack of control in the mealtime causes weight gain is greater.

To regain the weight they had before the holidays is important that we adjust our schedules for meals. Above all we must avoid starvation, and therefore will make five meals a day in which predominate foods low in fat and calories and rich in nutrients. One example that we can borrow is the intake of turkey, chicken, tuna, vegetables, fruits, whole grains … are some examples of foods rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories.

Japanese Diet Tips

japanese diet

The traditional Japanese diet is based on the consumption of rice, vegetables, fish, green tea, seaweed, soy and its derivatives. But reality is much more varied than this: you can eat up to 30 foods daily nutritional groups combined and in small quantities.

One thing that distinguishes the Japanese diet of Western diets is the food pyramid is that it is upside down (for us, of course). The food is placed on one level or another depending on the number of servings per day to take, regardless of amount.

The Side Effect of Healthy Food (Part 2)

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

healthy foodsHUNGER AND HEALTH

U.S. researchers conducted a series of experiments. In the first of them all the volunteers who were college students, tested the same protein bar.

However, the scientists said half of them that this bar was a healthy food, while the other half of participants heard the same food was “healthy.”

A while later, young people who ate the bar “healthy” were more hungry than the volunteers who ate this meal, thinking it was very rich.

A third group of volunteers did not eat the bar but the researchers asked them to inspect it. Later, it turned out that these students have the same hunger that participants who had taken the bar, thinking it was healthy.

Seeing these results, scientists concluded that eating thinking that generates healthy food is so hungry as not eating anything.

The second experiment followed the guidelines of the first, which means that the volunteers ate a piece of bread described as healthy and delicious. But to measure hunger, the scientists counted the number of pretzels that participants ate a little later. Those who had eaten the bread caught fewer considered delicious pretzels.

“One of the challenges of losing weight is that people tend to compensate for their overeating partial successes, and end up gaining more and more weight,” said Fishbach.

When the goal is to lose weight would be counterproductive given encouragement to believe that diet foods are healthy. It found that people who eat a dish that they consider “healthy” may later have more hunger than those who enjoyed the same food thinking it was “delicious.”

To these conclusions came a team of researchers from the University of Chicago (United States), which analyzed the impact of perceptions of food on the feeling of hunger or satiety.

“When a person eats a healthy feel hungrier than if I had not eaten anything or had opted for a dish that is not associated with health,” said Ayelet Fishbach, lead author of the study.
